I’m sure I’ve told you all before about Biome Lifestyle, one of the best eco-friendly home decor websites around. The site provides you with stacks of homewares and gifts, and also has the capacity to allow visitors to create eco-friendly wedding gift registers! Here’s some of the stuff I’m loving in their range at the moment:

A: Recycled Glass Vase by Aducco at Biome Lifestyle, £9.00 (GBP) ea.
B: Chic Recycled Black & White Wine Glasses at Biome Lifestyle, £7.50 (GBP) ea.
C: Bubble Large Recycled Glass Vase at Biome Lifestyle, £28.00 (GBP)
D: 100% Silk Quilt at Biome LIfestyle, £80.00 (GBP)
I’ve decided that once I’ve done my current job for a few more years (well, jobs really, as I have a handful of rather mismatched occupations), I’m going to quit and become a fabulous homewares designer that wears turbans and only drinks iced tea. These Eco-Friendly Items of the Week may be my inspiration:

A: Bamboo Mini Bowls at Natural Collection, £5.95 (GBP) ea on sale
B: Recycled Glass Tapas Bowl from the Aster Range at Ecocentric, £4.00 (GBP)
C: Coming Down the Park Bowl by Nadia Sparham at One Eco Home, £17.00 (GBP)
D: Recycled Aluminium Dips and Nibbles Tray at Fair and Fabulous, £29.00 (GBP)
E: Bowler Sustainable Vine Vase in Cream at Biome Lifestyle, £55.00 (GBP)
I know, it’s normally ‘Eco-Friendly ITEM of the Week’, but there were so many pretty things on the Fashion-Conscience website that I couldn’t resist rejigging the post to include more than one item! All of the products below are eco-friendly and/or organic:

A: Pheasant Feather Vintage Handbag by Vivien Cheng at Fashion-Conscience, £130.00 (GBP)
B: Ivy League Cuff by Verderocks at Fashion-Conscience, £105.00 (GBP)
C: Sequin Kimono Dress by Elsom at Fashion-Conscience, £270.00 (GBP)
D: Chunky Charm Necklace by Pat’s at Fashion-Conscience, £105.00 (GBP)
E: Organic Peacock Skinny Tee by Belle & Dean at Fashion-Conscience, £22.00 (GBP)
F: Beaded Volume Top by Beaumont Organic at Fashion-Conscience, £70.00 (GBP)
G: Scout Ankle Boots by Cri De Coeur at Fashion-Conscience, £135.00 (GBP)
H: Cup Flower Bell Bracelet by Rachel Essex at Fashion-Conscience, £85.00 (GBP)

This coat hanger at One Eco Home is too good to hide underneath an item of clothing - I can picture it hanging on a wall as a decorative feature or dangling casually from a wardrobe handle for all the world to see. The wood (plywood birch) comes from a Forest Stewardship Council managed woodland whilst the construction is done entirely within the United Kingdom. Not only is this item eco-friendly, it’s also locally produced! Here’s to supporting our local craftspeople!

This week’s Eco-Friendly Item feature showcases one of my most favourite finds of recent days. Although the t-shirt itself is not environmentally friendly (it doesn’t appear to have been made from organic or eco-friendly cotton, for instance), the message it sends out is clear - ‘Switch off that Light!’, save electricity, and in doing so save the world from high levels of carbon emissions!
The t-shirt is unisex and is available at the V&A Shop.

I love this Solar Powered Windmill Kit. Not only is it quite cheap, it’s a great gift for anyone who is interested in the environment. I can picture this being used in classrooms, at home with the kids, or even sitting in your front window for the whole world to see. The kit includes the motor and the solar panels and comes with detailed instructions as to how to put the windmill together. What an excellent way to teach your kids about solar power and wind power! (Plus, how cool would it be to have sitting in your kitchen and lounge-room, twirling away happily without any use of mains power?)
Kudos to Biome Lifestyle for stocking this great little find.
